The Dodgers Man, who chose Doosan for 1.1 billion won, overwhelmed the Japanese slugger..."I'm happy that you got the first step of the 亞"

The new foreign pitcher's stable of the Doosan Bears in professional baseball has finally been unveiled.

Doosan's new foreign pitcher Jack Rogue started the second warm-up match against the Seibu Lions of the Japanese professional baseball league at Nango Stadium in Nichinan City, Miyazaki Prefecture on the 22nd and supported his team's 5-4 first victory by pitching two innings of one hit, one strikeout and no runs.

Jack Rogue got off to a shaky start in the first inning as he had an infield hit by Nishikawa, the leadoff hitter, in the bottom of the first inning. He was then in danger of scoring with one out and runners on second due to his sacrifice bunt with Takizawa, but did not lose a point after catching Tyler Nevin with a fly ball to right field and Leandro Cedeno with a fly ball to center field. 안전놀이터

In the bottom of the second inning, he met Tonosaki, the first batter, and threw a fastball full of his body at the end of the full count to strike out. While Genda, the second batter, was thrown to the right field, Seiya Watanabe was sent out due to shortstop Lee Yoo-chan's catch error, but Kento Watanabe was fouled by third baseman's foul fly to complete the test. He touched the baton with Choi Won-joon in the bottom of the third inning.

Throwing 26 pitches in two innings, Zach Rogue pitched cutters, changeups, and sweepers under a fastball of up to 148 kilometers. Although it was his first time to play in Asia, he pitched competitively against Japanese pro baseball players, who are one level higher than those of the KBO League.

"I feel good because I did well on the first pitch. It was my first time pitching in Asia, and I'm off to a good start," said Zack Rogue after the game. "My physical condition is very good right now. I've come up to 90 percent. I was thinking of 35 to 40 pitches in two innings today, but I'm satisfied because I threw much less than that."

Jack Rogue received the prize by winning the Outstanding Pitcher of Practice Award thanks to his two scoreless innings. When asked where the prize money was spent, he said, "I think we should give coffee to the players today or tomorrow."

Doosan mutually agreed to terminate the contract with Thomas Hatch, who had medical issues in December last year, and chose Jack Rogue without hesitation. Doosan invested 800,000 U.S. dollars to recruit a left-hander who throws a sweeper.

Jack Rogue, who made his Major League debut with the Oakland Athletics in 2022, pitched in a total of 19 games (10 starts) in three big league seasons and played 70 innings with a 3-8 record with an ERA of 7.20. He wore the Detroit Tigers in the 2023 season and the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2024 season.

In the minor league Triple-A last year, he played in 24 games (13 starts) and pitched well with 75 hits and an earned run average of 2.69 during 93 ⅔ innings. His overall record in Triple-A is 21 wins, 25 losses and one save in 355 ⅓ innings (68 starts).

Jack Rogue is a fastball, sinker, change-up and cutter with a maximum speed of 147 kilometers. The main weapon is a left-handed sweeper, which is rare in the KBO league. "He has been observing for three years, and he has good hiding movements (deception) from his unique pitching form, so it will not be easy for batters to target him," a Doosan official predicted.

Jack Rogue had high expectations since the first spring camp in Sydney, Australia. The sweeper had high angles and a cutter penetrated into the body of left-handed hitters. Left-handed hitters at Doosan who experienced Jack Rogue's breaking ball during live pitching said, "All of the balls fly scary." Jack Rogue raised his ball speed to 150 kilometers in his first live pitching, and his ball control and command were also said to be better than those of first starter Cole Irvin.

Jack Rogue was also aware of Doosan's players and fans' expectations. "We know all the fans' expectations. That's why we are preparing to work harder with Irvin," he said. "If the team goes well and my record follows, that's the best scenario. I want to fill 150 innings."
